MUZ TV FAN INTERVIEW TO TOKIO HOTEL

Bill, can you grow your hair long again?
Bill : Why not? I don’t really plan my hairstyle, so that might happen.
What is the maximum sum you’ve spent for charity?
Bill : I hate it when people talk about how much money they´ve spend just for getting some nice press. All four of us definitely spend a lot of money on charity but we would never talk about any amount!
So, you’ve sang “Monsoon o koete” in Japanese, what about Russian?
Bill : Gustav knows a couple of Russian words and phrases, may be we let him perform a Russian Monsoon version?
Can you imagine HOW MUCH you are loved and awaited in Russia in general?
Bill : Yes we can, within the last couple of month we received thousands of emails, comments and letters by our Russian fans, that was pretty impressive. Thanks for that!!! We cant wait to come over…
Georg, do you know that many fans call you Rapunzel?
Georg: Haha, no that’s the first time I heard of this.
Tom: But I love… – I think we all love it!!! What a perfect description!
Have you seen all the actions that were arranged by Russian fans to get your concert in Russia?
Tom : We saw all comments, emails and letters and that’s why we are back. It was really touching us and we can feel the endless support!
Gustav, do you remember anything from your Russian language lessons at school?
Gustav: Sure! I still know some phrases. Our trip to Moscow is a great opportunity to refresh some of it!
Tom, do you know that fur cap with ear flaps is a national Russian piece of clothes?
Tom: I didn’t know that, but I’ll wear mine now more often I love them!
Do you like your passport photos?
Georg: German passport photos have to stick to certain regulations such as no smiling and a certain positioning of your head. They always look awful.
Tom: No, mine looks great!
Gustav: Yeah, mine too!
Bill: Yes, mine as well… maybe it’s just you Georg!
Many people say that Russian girls are the most beautiful, what’s your opinion?
Tom: Let me put it like this, I cant wait to spend another night in Russia!
Tom, is it you who posts in blog on tokiohotel.com?
Tom: Sure, check it out if you have a minute.
When was the last time you had sex?
Tom : Would be easier figure out the last time when I didn’t had sex.
Do your former classmates try to contact with you somehow?
Georg: Some of our former classmates are still our best friends, so yes.
You’ve shooted a couple of commercials with Alice Cooper, what impression did he make?
Bill: Working with Cooper was really fun, we had a great time and he is a nice guy!
You travel a lot and now. You’ve left your home country Germany and moved to USA. Do you often call your parents?
Tom: Our family means the world to us, we are really close and speak every day.
According to pessimists everything goes in a circle in life. According to optimists everything goes by spiral, dreamers think all goes by a straight line. How is it in your life?
Bill: Unfortunately I must say that I´m more the pessimist in almost every situation. But Georch is the big dreamer in the band;-)
Tom: Bill knows, as he was a huge fan as a child.
If you were 4 simple guys and were huge fans of some artist, and you wanted to attract his/her attention, what would you do?
Bill: Right, I know how it is to wait in line for hours to get the best seats at a show and all that stuff, so I really appreciate all the fandom and know exactly how fans feel.
Tom: And Georg still knows how that feels. He´s a huge fan of mine. He always trys to get my attention by running around naked whenever he can. And it works every once in a while
What thing would you make as the 8th world wonder? You travel a lot, may be you’ve seen something interesting that struck and inspired you?
Tom: Hm, that’s hard to tell. Recently we had the chance to see the Maya pyramids in Mexico. That was really impressive! But the world as itself and life on earth is the biggest wonder to me!
Gustav, you make an impression of a highly professional and strongest musician in the band, a heir of Lars Ulrich. Besides you legs in your shorts excite many girls’ hearts! How do you see the musical development of the band? What perspectives you have?
Gustav: Not only the lovely Russian girls might get exited, I also wear the shorts especially for Georg When it comes to our future plans, we don’t really stick to a certain strategy, it’s all about the momentum and the inspiration.
What is David Bowie for you, Bill?
Bill: As a child I watched Bowies Movie “Labyrith” a trillion times. That’s where I first noticed him and his work. He´s an Icon!
Bill, you’re one of the brightest frontmen and artists on today’s stage. Tell me, when are you going to stop being shy and finally try to conquer the whole world?
Bill: With Tokio Hotel we are already travelling around the world. Where ever our fans ask us to play a show we try to go at least once. But we still can´t get enough. A huge world tour is our next goal!
Many artists like Dero from Oomph! use internet blogs to keep in touch with their fans, reveal their ideas and thoughts there, life and philosophical views, share their opinions about religion and world and other important things. Tom, how do all the things that are published in your blog reflect your inner world?
Tom: I use my blog to share cool stuff and my personal opinion on more serious topics such as animal welfare. In general the blog is a fun thing for me. I share stuff that interests me and things I found on the internet that I just like.
Bill, you say you want to control everything. And what if someone controls you?
Bill: I don’t want to control people I want to be in charge of my own music, videos, and artworks. Already as a child I hated authorities and they hated me.
Are there any clothes that when you see them you’ll never put them on and you’ll say it’s too much for you?
Bill: There is a lot. But, for example: short pants and real fur.
Tom: more the second one. You live just once and I want to try everything I can. Faults always happen… not often to me, but they happen
Humanoid City Tour became a great step in your professional and musical growth. What is it for you – this album and tour? Has Russia any opportunity to see Humanoid City Tour live?
Tom: We are really happy to have the chance to perform at least a few songs for our Russian fans now. And we are going to include Russia in any future touring, we always had a great time here!
Bill, during signing sessions you just sign something and say few words to your fans. But sometimes you raise your eyes and look at them. What do you see in their eyes at those moments I wonder? I remember, you said you all loke eyes George, there are rumors you have relations?
Bill: We love signing sessions. It’s a great way to get in touch with your fans and understand their thoughts and feelings. I have the chance to see their real emotions and that´s what is really important to me! In that moments all the negative things are blown away and I can feel their love!
Georg: Fortunately that’s not a legend, I have a girlfriend

[INTERVIEW] IN ROCK VOL.329 (JAPAN)

“We are inspired by things like movies, our surroundings, everyday life or just waking up each morning.”
Tokio Hotel show their concern for Japan. Representing the band are the brothers, Bill & Tom Kaulitz who kindly agreed to give a telephone interview from Los Angeles at short notice.
Q: How have you guys been?
Bill: We’ve been writing songs in the studio, launching new projects, stuff like that.
Q: Are you writing new songs for the next album?
Tom: It may or may not be for the next album, we’re just writing songs at this stage. We still don’t have a defined plan for releasing the new album and we don’t know when we will release it. We’re just being creative, writing music.
Q: What kind of songs are you writing? Are you singing it in English? Or are they being written in German?
Bill: Right now, the songs are more or less written in English. I don’t really know why myself. Just that it comes naturally to me. Besides, we’re living in LA now so somehow things tend to get done in English. However we’re not sure how we are eventually going to compile the album because we definitely will do songs in German. Since nothing has been decided and we’re still at the experimental stage, we’re just trying out different things while we put a demo of the songs together.
Q: Does your recording company and management not pressure you to complete the album by a certain date, or are they fairly relaxed about it?
Tom: (laughs) They are not relaxed about it. But we’re just staying cool and calm.
Bill: Yup, technically we don’t have a deadline. I mean, for me, deadlines are like nightmares. In the creative line, you’re trying very hard to produce good work but having to deal with a deadline just messes things up and make its even more complicated. What’s more important is the freedom to enjoy doing what you love to do. Even if it seems like making an album is about completing the songs and making detailed preparations, its actually something which need sot come from inside of us. That is why right now we want to take it easy so that we can enjoy new challenges*.
*probably referring to the challenge of creating a new album
Q: So, what kind of challenges are you taking on, what sound are you trying to create?
Tom: That’s a surprise we’re keeping for the release of the next album. In the first place, we are creating something different everyday. We listen to various kinds of music, and are inspired by different things so it really depends on the mood at each point in time. We’re doing this everyday and everyday is a new day.
Bill: That’s right. That’s why we don’t have a definitive sound for the next album.
Q: What kind of music inspires you?
Tom: Its not just music actually. For now I really like the older works by Anthony Hamilton.
Bill: We are also inspired by movies and what’s happening around us. Everyday life in a place like LA is very refreshing and therefore inspiring. Just being able to wake up each morning is also an inspiration. But I would say movies play a bigger part. We really like movies. We do go to the theatres or we watch one from our 1000+ dvd collection in our home theater.
Q: Any good films so far?
Bill: The Town was good. I also think The Fighter was really good.
Q: About your life in LA, do you think you are somewhat able to live a more normal life? After all you’re kind of “unknown” compared to Germany.
Bill: Well, the both of us came to LA because we wanted some privacy in our lives. Up to this point we’ve not been able to enjoy much privacy, and it’s a bit difficult to achieve that in Europe due to certain circumstances. Therefore, we were looking for a place where we can be free to be creative and at the same time enjoy some privacy. Up till now, we’ve been on tour and haven’t had the time for any kind of life outside of Tokio Hotel. In that sense, LA is quite suitable because things are quite different. The *paparazzi don’t know where we live so we’ve been able to enjoy some privacy and take things a bit easier.
Tom: It doesn’t mean that we get to play and party every day. Most of the time, we’re cooped up in the studio.
Bill: Yes, **we do need to be cautious at all times.
*Japanese word is unclear, so I’m guessing he’s referring to paparazzi
**Bill is probably saying this to mean that if they were out and about and careless, their location would be found out. It took me a while to understand
Q: So is there some kind of everyday routine in your life?
Bill: We’re really bad when it comes to routines. That’s why we do different things everyday. Other than checking our emails, we’re currently busy with several of this year’s projects. Its still in the planning phase and we havent got the details down yet. There are various things we’d like to do this year. The best part of our job is having the freedom to do what we want. We really hate routines because when we were young we had to go to school everyday like a routine, and we just hated it but we had no choice.
Q: Finally, do you have any words for the people in Japan?
Bill: Of course. We’ve been checking the news everyday and staying up-to-date on the latest developments in Japan. I think it’s not just us but the whole world knows what’s going on and that has deeply moved everybody. I think everyone wants to help in one way or another. Especially in this day and age, I think it’s important for the world to unite and help each other out. It’s really wonderful to actually see the world giving a helping hand to Japan.
Tom: I was really shocked when I first heard about what happened in Japan. After all it is a country that is special to us. And we were so saddened by the news. So we’ve been looking out for information about whether the people are alright. On our official website we are selling a button set and the proceeds from the sales will be donated to Japan. I also think our fans would like to play a part in helping out.
Q: Is there a song you would like to dedicate to those who are still feeling down?
Bill: Because everybody is different, it’s quite hard to find one thing to say to everybody but if I were to choose from our songs, I would choose “By Your Side” and “Zoom Into Me”. Both songs give the assurance that you’re not alone and it’s a message I would like to emphasize. After all, it makes you feel happy if you know that people around the world feel for you.

ELLE GIRL JAPAN – INTERVIEW IN ENGLISH

You all started the band when you were really young, but from that moment, what kind of music were willing to do or was there a special image ?
Bill:
Hmmm, no, there was none. Only then began to write music for us, we made our own music. So far, we haven’t copied anyone’s songs.
This is amazing !
Bill: (laughs) But each of our musical interests are different. And so far, it hasn’t had a band like ours, we could only do original music soon. Because all members didn’t have any favorite artist in common.
Now ?
Bill:
Now, everyone likes rock stars Aerosmith. But of course, the music that each private listening is different. Always ask us, about our vision, we want to do from now on, as do music, but is really simple. Only hope “something” that comes to us all.
So, it’s easy to find music that you guys want to do ?
Bill:
Of course ! Since the beginning of the band was really early, I always think of the lyrics, and Tom plays the guitar …
Tom: Writing music is easy. It is always easy to find what we do, then just do it.
How you ever find it ?
Tom
: Just started to act in rehearsing rooms. Bill begins writing the emotional lyrics, and we play our instruments. The lyrics and music are produced all at once.
Georg: We don’t prepare anything in advance.
Bill: Speaking some expressions, when writing, there are people who write a story or writes poetry to express themselves. But whenever, we express ourselves in making music.

When you write the lyrics, where inspiration comes from ?
Bill:
From everywhere. Pick up ideas from many sites. Tom and I will arrange it together while we’re recording in our home studio. We are inspired by films, through cities, myself and different people, and also in life. We are going to study and collect these things, and from there some new ideas are born and others are changed. It is well put together.
Bill, you create the lyrics as if you wrote a diary ?
Bill:
Yes. They are completely different. We got the inspiration from various aspects, and the content is mainly about our feelings and experiences.
The songs are not only about reality and fantasy, but also about the connection between them.
Tom
: I think both worlds awaken my true feeling. The fictional world affects us, especially reflected in our new album “Humanoid. “
What emotion can easily be impressed by the music of Tokio Hotel ?
Bill: We always create the letters with our emotions of the moment. We probably are aggressive or sad, grief, broken-hearted, happy, or sometimes just want to have a party that night. We have different feelings every day. Whenever we take some points and put them in our lyrics, just like a diary. There must be some people who write diaries every night ! And our music is the product of a mixture of daily and fantasy.
In the official Tokio Hotel, we know a lot about your own views in the world in the web design concepts. When you had this idea ?
Bill
: HAHAHA (laughing happily). It’s like doing a jigsaw puzzle. We didn’t have even an idea at first. Only continue to build our songs, and make electronic music and made them more attractive. When we did this, we gradually had some ideas as visual effects that may come to us, or how to transport the human emotions. We achieve this purpose by the photos or funds, and are just as the costumes of the tour. All the songs make them more lively.
How profound ! Cool ! Bill, when you knew you wanted to be a star ?
Bill:
Very early. My mother always said that Tom and I were very noisy children.
Georg: And you are still being noisy children. (they laugh together)
Bill: (still say with a little anger) are naturally artists. My mother often brought us to parties and we took the microphones with us, so we talked and danced. We were aggressive at any time.
Tom: (in German) But sometimes there is bad language.
Everyone laughed when Tom said “bad language”, Georg the most.
Although I’m quite interested in the history of the puzzle. So what kind of film influences the world view of Bill ?
Bill:
It’s hard to say. I like various kinds of film. The first movie I saw was the David Bowie Labyrinth (1986). This is my favorite movie.
When did you see this movie ?
Bill:
Um … about 6 years ago. He saw it again and again because I really liked. I also like “Dangerous Liaisons” (1988), although it’s a very old movie. I watch different kinds of movies, like science fiction movies. When I was young, I liked a lot ET (1982), and vampire movies. I like the Fifth Element (1997). And I also like to watch romantic movies like The Notebook (2004). It’s really touching. Yes, I see many kinds of films, rather as a particular type.
Tom: It’s really crazy. We have thousands of DVDs, too many good films.
And the other three ? You have a favorite band or movie, or something that influences you ? Could you talk about this ?
Gustav:
My favorite album is “Darkside of the Sun. ” And my favorite is DVD Tokio Hotel. (Everyone laughs)
Georg: Speaking of actors I like Leonardo Dicaprio. (Gustav and Tom are laughing very hard)
Georg (says seriously): His films are really good.
Bill (according to him): Um, this is a fact. His films are quite good. Films made when he was young are good too.
Georg: He could be the actor of the century.
Bill: True !
And music ? What is your favorite album ?
Georg:
I listen to many kinds of music. And I hear more than one album every day. The last album I bought was that of Mike Posners. (Mike Posners was also a candidate in 2010 at the MTV Europe Music Awards)
Bill: He is an American newcomer. And there are influences from pop and R & B into their music.
Tom: R & B, Dance and Hip-Hop, these three mixtures sit together.
And what about you Tom ?
Tom:
My favorite movie is Training Day (2001) starring Denzel Washington. He is cool and …
Bill (interrupting): Tom likes all the movies played by Denzel Washington. And the Fire of Vengeance (2004).
Tom: Ah ! The Fire of Vengeance is really good. Dakota Fanning is also a good actress. (He also appeared in The Fire of  Vengeance, his full name is Hannah Dakota Fanning, best known film I Am Sam (2001).)
The interview suddenly began to heat.
Turning to music, from your first album, you guys have been working with producers such as Dave Roth, Patrick Benzner and David Jost. What kind of effect has been brought to work with them ?
Bill:
We have been working together for a long time.
Tom: Yes, we have been working together for 7 or 8 years since we started our band.
Bill: We know each other well, and all albums are recorded with producers. Our last album “Humanoid” was slightly different in that we work with different people, but us had put many new ideas on the album, we still work with them.
Tom: I think the most important is that we know each other well, each in the studio knows the direction of production and sound.
Bill: It is important for us to have the same taste. If producers have different musical tastes withthe us, it would be difficult for us to produce a single song. But we’ve been working on for a long time, know what to do, then it is quite easy.
Which song from the album “Humanoid”, contains the newest element? I think ‘Dogs Unleashed “is a unique song that mixes electronic rock.
Bill:
Yes, this is the song that we work with our new sound better. The effect of electronics, drum machine, keyboard and synthesizer, we had the challenge to a different sound.
Yes
Bill: But when we put this matter in our music, we had some bare in mind. The songs were ours, but us to write our songs in our hearts, we may be affected by the outside world in the recording. Some people have different ideas, but his ideas could not be better. If we used the wrong way, the sound seems cheap. So, to not make that sound that becomes cheap, we had to mix it with rock inpresionante. In the last album, the electronic rock is the part I like best. I think we’re on stage and we want to have the change to new matter.
Tom: It is a tool for us to do larger scale music. Introducing electronic rock, we pointed us to make an album sound more sense to scale.
Bill: Actually, musical instruments were played more music we play, here.
Bill and Tom looked serious talking about his music. There is still a chat with the 4 boys.

INTERVIEW FOR ELLE JAPAN

Tokio Hotel was founded by twin brothers Bill (vocals) and Tom (guitar), who came from a little old town called Loitsche in East Germany (Date of birth: 01/09/1989). Then Georg Listing (bass, 31/03/1987) and Gustav Schäfer (drums, 08/09/1988) joined. Finally, the four formed the band.
Bill and Tom started writing music at the age of 7 years. They made their performances in Magdeburg when they were 10 years. Then matured very early.
Later, at the age of 13 years, they had similar tastes and interests with Georg and Gustav who came to see their live show and the band began to settle.
Georg began playing bass at the age of 13 years and Gustav started playing drums with 15. For them, the band was the real race.
As to the reason why their band called TH Tokio, Bill said: “We consider Tokyo as the final destination, because Tokyo is too far to reach it. The scene in Tokyo we are always turning. We are inspired by this scene and add Tokyo to the name of the band.
The interview began in a harmonious atmosphere like last time.
What hairstyle so fabulous !
Bill:
Thanks!
How long does you need to make this hairstyle ?
Bill:
This is the easiest, because the hairdresser only have to do your hair like this. It was not long in doing so. But in the past really took time and was upset because of my long hair. And always use hairspray. So today’s hairstyle is easy.
It is the second time you come to Tokyo. What do you think of Tokyo ?
Bill:
We really like the streets of Japan. We were a little nervous during the first day when we arrived. We couldn’t imagine before in all that we would reach Tokyo. But we knew what it was this time. We found different kinds of people and it was exciting. We really appreciate everything was full of energy. And all the people were very friendly. Besides this, our fans were energetic. They sent us many gifts and had done many things for us. We moved a lot. This was the most exciting moment when we took pictures with fans. At this time, each released its emotion.
Where you want to go in Tokyo ?
Gustav:
We have not seen much. But we went to Shibuya, it was awesome ! The crossing in Shibuya was amazing. We find many people who have never encountered before. In Germany, there is no place like this. We really want to see more streets like this.
What kind of impression you have about Japanese girls ?
Bill:
They are very lovely. While sometimes a little shy, I think they are sweet and cute. It’s normal to be shy and nervous when your favorite band is standing in front of you, after all they are your favorites. So it is natural. I really like.
What about the German girls and American girls ?
Bill:
They are not shy at all. What should I say ? In Germany, people are more crazy. (He raises his voice). Because different countries have different culture, I can’t judge. This differs from one man to another man. After we arrived in Japan, I realized that the Japanese are a little shy. But fans of Tokio Hotel are basically one big family. They share everything on Twitter. So I think Japanese fans will participate in the great family.
Bill, you’re a shy boy, right ?
Tom, Georg, Gustav:
Bill is shy ! (laughs)
Bill: No, I’m not like this. (blush) In my opinion, it must be some moments in life when people feel shy. I don’t think I can be shy because I’m used to communicate with people after years of practice. But all this depends very. According to different situation, people may feel shy too. I think when I’m free and I find pretty girls, I will be confident and say “Hi, I’m a rock star !”
Tom: I have some good advice. If Bill is meeting someone is shy, he should offer a kiss. (Everyone laughs) So Bill is shy ! (laughs)
Bill: Well, I’m a little shy.
Tom: So should you.
Bill: I can’t do that. I know it is better to kiss with real feelings.
Tom: See ? Bill is a shy boy. (laughs)
The interview was held in a harmonious atmosphere.

TOPP MAGAZINE (NORWAY) TRANSLATION

We are ready for CHANGE
10 years ago they only played for 5 people and did everything themselves. Now, Tokio Hotel holds concerts for over half a million people and about 700 million yearly.
“Love means everything. It’s life,” says Bill Kaulitz. Despite the fact that the Tokio Hotel frontman has an army of young fans, he claims that he hasn’t had a girlfriend in a long time. Love isn’t limited to just relationships and girls. Love is all around us. For me, it’s real love when I meet fans, to be touring with the guys, and to be standing on a stage in front of an eager audience, says Bill.
Yet, there are some celebrity girls that steal his attention. “If I wanted to date a celebrity, the Olsen twins are right up there,” says Bill. (Translators Note: Then they talk a bit about his perfect black makeup and extreme hair. I didn’t want to translate this, since you know what he looks like. ;D )
WE’RE GOING TO CHANGE MUSIC
TOPP is meeting the band in their hotelroom. They’ve held the meeting an secret because a flock of young girls are waiting outside their hotel, and when the superstars appear, they cry tears of joy. “They’ve helped me through a very difficult time,” says a teary-eyed girl. When we mention the fans that have gathered outside, the band is flattered. – We’re so glad for our fans, and we couldn’t put a price on them. (Translator’s Note: This expression doesn’t translate well. They are litterally saying: “We put a big price on their engagement in us.”).
In December, the band released their “Best of” album, and they’re already underway with recording their new album which will be ready for November 2011 (Translator’s Note: don’t know how true this is…).
The band will be working with different producers in Berlin and Los Angeles and the process will take about half a year. When asked if they will be inspired by artists they look up to, they shake their heads.
“We listen to almost only our own music when we’re on tour and when we go into the studio,” says Bill. He is a huge fan of music from the 80s. – I am a fan of Depeche Mode and David Bowie, but I listen mostly to Tokio Hotel before playing in the studio.
Although they are inspired by themselves, they said that, this time they want to change their sound. – We’ve always liked to be surprising, and to not appear as a predicatable band, says Bill. Bill says he is always changing, “My hair, for example. All four of us like to experiment with our own styles, just like our music in the comming year.”
“I must convice Georg and Gustav to change their style, but they don’t want to be ‘nerds’ and just do what’s comfortable for them. I’ve asked them if they want to colour their hair or wear colourful T-shirts, but no. It just doesn’t work for them. Tom is more accepting towards change than Georg or Gustav. I have six to eight months before I’m going to decide whether to cut my hair or not. We’ll see. I welcome all changes.”
HATE THE BOOTS
Lead singer Bill has a style that separates him from the crowd, no doubt. The 21-year old also has strong opinions about current girl’s fashion trends. “Rubberboots are the ugliest things I have ever seen. You look like you’re dressing for work!”
But the Kaulitz brothers also have a guilty pleasure – classic chick flicks (girly romance movies). “It’s hard to believe, but I really like ‘The Notebook,’” admits Tom. Bill has a soft sort for “Meet Joe Black” where Brad Pitt plays the lead role.
That they’re now sitting here, being asked all sorts of different questions by the press all over the world, was inconceivable for the band when they formed in 2001. But it didn’t take a long time for them to become known, soon they were excused from school to focus 100% on their music.
“Of course, it was fantastic to skip school, but other things were more difficult to give up,” says Bill. “I remember my 16th birthday, I wanted to party, but we had to do interviews instead. It was a long process before we became disciplined to focus. I know some things have passed me by, but I would never give up what I have today.”
“There are some days were I wish I could just go out in the streets or drive around in my car without being noticed, but what would I even do? Bill Kaulitz with an office job? I would collapse! Yeah, I’ll just do what I like to do best, stand on the stage and entertain. I get nervous when I see an award show on TV that Tokio Hotel doesn’t have. I want to be on top. That is my inner strength. That’s what holds me together.”

SHOXX Nº217 INTERVIEW – “KANON AND TOKIO HOTEL” (JAPAN)

Kanon (*member of a so popular japanese band called An Cafe) was selected by the SHOXX magazine for a special interview to the European rock band Tokio Hotel. Below is the transcript of our conversation. Oh, there are many exchanges of views on the artists of East and West, and in An Cafe. I hope you enjoy reading, please take a look!
Ah, Japanese fans have already heard the strong voice of the German fans.
Kanon: Tokio Hotel are interested in listening to Japanese bands?
Bill: Yes, we are very interested. Don’t know much, but we heard that there are plenty of bands that are fantastic and enthusiastic, as heard on this CD (talking about Kanon’s CD).
Kanon: Thank you.

Kanon: I’ve been several times in Europe…
Bill: Have you been to Germany?
Kanon: I’ve been there, yes.
Bill: Which city?
Kanon: In Cologne and Berlin.
Bill: All right!

Kanon: The flights between Germany and Japan are very long, right?
Bill: Tom and I have moved to Los Angeles now. Compared with Germany, Japan is closer to the United States. About 11 hours of flight, but is still long. Gustav and Georg came from Germany.

Kanon: The Germans are tall in stature…
Bill: Oh, there are many with the height of Gustav (laughs).

Kanon: The Germans also speak with high voice. Programs I saw and the voices of the presenters were very high. Here, however barely hear what the other says.
Bill: As the Germans are high, it is natural to think that they also have a great voice. But I like the screams of fans.
Kanon: Me too!

Kanon: You haven’t opened any presentation in Japan, right?
Bill: Yes, but we have a presentation open to anyone. Japan is very different from Germany, but coming to Japan has always been our dream. I can’t believe I’m in Japan, but in general has always been our dream. I am very happy for tomorrow, which will be our presentation here in Japan.

Kanon: The Japanese fans are a little “too shy”…
Bill: I think so. They are very nice, but a little shy, yes.
Kanon: It’s typical.
Bill: I understand, I understand.

Kanon: Akasaka Blitz is a very nice, especially on the inside can see the difference, I love it.
Bill: We’ve seen the pictures and the place looks very beautiful. Before coming to Japan, we introduced in Mexico in a room with 18.000 people. This room can be a bit small, but at least the atmosphere is more intimate. I think it will be like a fresh air for us.
Kanon: 18.000, wow!

Kanon: At the press conference, the atmosphere was fantastic. You already ate pizza in Japan, right? The pizza in Japan is very different from pizza in Italy, Japan has a unique flavor.
Bill: I didn’t understand much about the menu of pizzas that were in the hotel, however, despite that make it a different way, is very tasty. For lovers of pasta and pizza is always a pleasure to experience.
Kanon: I noticed that you’re a vegetarian.
Tom: Bill and I are vegetarians, so do not eat meat.
Bill: I have heard much of Japanese food, including many delicious vegetarian dishes.

Kanon: Japanese cuisine/food is very different from the West. It takes a lot of meat and a variety of fish. Kaiseki, for you vegetarians: eat like Buddhist monks. In general, because their clergy don’t eat meat, right ?
Bill: That’s great ! We’d love to know where we could eat.

Kanon: I also noticed your makeup…
Bill: I became interested in makeup when I was 12. I also went to school with makeup.

Kanon: What made you interested in makeup?
Bill: I became interested because of Halloween. I dressed as a vampire. I liked the look of a vampire and David Bowie, so I fell in love with makeup since the beginning. I was inspired by a particular person, is a mixture of elements that I like. I created my current appearance.

Kanon: Oh, so the other band members will not follow it?
Tom: No.
Gustav: No way.
Georg: I don’t think so (laughs).
Bill: Although our band is very close, we all have a great personality, each has its own style, and shouldn’t change that, and not everyone would like to see to make-up the whole band. I do this because as a child, I liked to wear makeup and choose how to combine the makeup with the clothes. We have no stylist, always have the last word on our new look.
Kanon: Ah, I see.

Kanon: Do you put makeup on your own?
Bill: When I was in school I did, now I have a professional makeup artist that help me, I could do it alone, but I’m a little lazy.
Kanon: Ok.

Bill: We also have a question: Where does the name of your band “An Cafe” come ?
Kanon: Is the name of a racehorse.
Bill: The horse must be very strong. Horse racing is very popular in Japan.
Kanon: Yes, members of my band and I love horses, so we chose the name of a racehorse.
Bill: The name is really cute.

Kanon: In Japan there is a special place you want to go?
Bill: Well, is there somewhere I can go?
Kanon: Akihabara and Harajuku.
Bill: We went to Harajuku.
Tom: How many people !
Bill: You look around and see people everywhere.
Kanon: No coffee.

Tom: What’s in Akihabara ?
Kanon: This is the Akihabara electronics district, the latest technology releases. Before it was known as the “street power” sell everything.
Bill: That sounds very interesting.
Kanon: The power of the world in a better way.
Bill: Really? Then I have to take a look !
Kanon: It would be very interesting.

Tom: Aside from ” An Cafe” – is there another Japanese band ?
Kanon: Oh, the Japanese ?
Tom: If I were asked, “Tell me what is the best German band” could not answer: “Tokio Hotel”! (Laughter)
Kanon: Exactly! No other band that I recommend.
Bill: Well, then we must listen.

Kanon: After listening to our songs, tell us what you think.
All: Yes !

Kanon: Although there is no need to say it now, don’t forget to come back to Japan !
Bill: We’ll be back for sure.
Tom: Even if we have to go soon…
Bill: …we have to listen to the CD.
Kanon: Thank you.
