RTL PUNKT 12 “TOKIO HOTEL AND LADY GAGA” MTV VMJA (27.06.2011)

Katja: We have often wondered, if Tokio Hotel still exist. Beside a short appearance in L.A., the guys seemed to be lost in the last month. But now Tokio Hotel is loudly back. The name says it all, just in Tokyo at a benefit concert Bill, Tom and the others appeared again. So modified, that they could even upstaged Lady Gaga. Nicole Scherbart knows more…
The hair strict gelled, the lack-coat smoothly whip on and then these murder-shoes. On apparently twenty centimeters platform shoes, Bill literally swans over the Red Carpet and moves with Lady Gaga at the same eye-…ähm, shoe-level.
Bill: “I’m excited, they are all screaming and the crowd is amazing. We’re definitely totally excited tonight.”
‘Grit your teeth and get to it!’, thinks Lady Gaga make-up-technically. Because Tokio Hotel are really mega-stars in Japan. The fans are really into them. They went totally crazy, like here during their last visit. Meanwhile they feel almost at home in the Far East.
Bill: “It’s so awesome here. I don’t want to leave ever again. The guys are so stylish here. Stylish jackets and shoes… It’s unreal here…before I thought L.A. was the place to shop.”
LA is the adoptive home of the Magdeburger. There they work on their new record. But as often as the schedule allows it, they stay in Japan. And because it’s terribly exciting for Bill and Tom, their nerves are raw sometimes during the autograph-signing…
Tom: “Stop talking rubbish or I’ll come over… I didn’t sign any of these!”
Bill: “Tom! You put them here for me. Are you stupid?”
Tom: “You’re just insane…”
Bill: “You put them here for me.”
Tom: “I didn’t – they weren’t for you.”
Two brothers fighting, that also belongs to the daily routine of Tokio Hotel. At the benefit concert for the victims of the earthquake at the weekend, everything seems to be in balance again. *Darkside of the Sun is playing* And how could it be any different: Bill again in the “I love to attract attention-outfit”. From where does the guy just take his styling-ideas? Anyway, at least cloth-technically he made it to the new Mr. Gaga in Japan.

[VIDEO] RTL – PUNKT 6 “TOKIO HOTEL AT MTV VMAJ” (27.06.2011)

Big in Japan! Tokio Hotel for the first time in Tokyo! Screaming fans and a High-Heel -Appearance in Tokyo! Who has copied here from whom? Soon in Punkt 6…
Wolfram: Let’s change the flag for a moment, in a white one with a red point. At the weekend there was finally once again a great performance by Tokio Hotel. Where was it?
Vanessa: Yes, unfortunately far away from the German fans, in Tokyo at the MTV Music Aid Awards. This is a fundraiser for the victims of the earthquake.
Angela: What was going on there and why the appearance was a bit “gaga”, Gaby Wand knows it…
Finally they are back live on stage. Tokio Hotel rocks. But far away in Tokyo, where they played at a benefit-concert for the victims of the earthquake. Tokio Hotel in Tokyo – for the first time ever. It’s for sure not only because of the name, that there is already Japanese screaming-alert at the airport.
Bill: “I’m excited, they are all screaming and the crowd is amazing. We’re definitely totally excited tonight.”
But at first a little sightseeing-tour for the German band. Up and down on Tokyo’s hip shopping-mile…
Bill: “It’s so awesome here. I don’t want to leave ever again. The guys are so stylish here.”
Tom: “Yes.”
Bill: “It’s unreal here…before I thought L.A. was the place to shop.”
Maybe it’s because of the stage fright before the big show, in any way especially the twins are pretty hyper in the evening.
Tom: “Stop talking rubbish or I’ll come over.”
Bill: “Are you nuts – you put it right here.”
Tom: “So why didn’t you sign it then?”
However, on the red carpet you feel nothing from it anymore. Bill – from head to toe in leather and with murder-high-heels. Unknown is, who took whom as a fashion-idol. Even though Lady Gaga draw the attention with ultra-high shoes and leather-outfit and proves, that she still has the perspective even with closed eyes. She also performed at the evening for the good cause. Bill prefers to rock in a fur coat, but with a new gel-hairdo. But one thing is for sure, beside Lady Gaga, Tokio Hotel were the highlight of the evening. Tokio Hotel are simply stars in Tokyo.
Angela: They were not for the first time in Tokyo. Do they like it there better than in Germany now or will they finally come back to us again?
Vanessa: No, they moved to Los Angeles to work on their new record and have a self imposed stage ban for this time, no interviews, nothing. That was only for a good cause. And we have to say, no other international star, except Lady Gaga, has dared to go there because of the radioactive rays. So hats off to the guys and Lady Gaga, they rock Tokyo.

[VIDEO] AFP TV (26.06.2011)

Even their band name obliged to help. Tokio Hotel give a benefit concert in the Japanese capital to help the victims of the tsunami-disaster.
Bill: “You know, for us it’s…we’re just so happy, because we always love, when we have the chance to come over. Tonight is really a special night. We want to raise as much money as we can together with MTV. We are so proud to be a part of that and that we can help with music and money.”The music channel MTV has made the Video Music Awards Japan to a fundraiser for the Japanese people in the disaster area. Since the disastrous tsunami and the subsequent nuclear disaster in Fukushima in March, about 90.000 people live in overcrowded emergency shelters in Japan.

[VIDEO] VOX – PROMINENT (26.06.2011)

And Tokio Hotel, with a new look, have stopped their concert break
Bill: “We wanna raise as much money as we can.”For such a commitment we say: IN!

PRO 7 TAFF (22.06.11) – “BILL’S BEARD”

Daniel: Beard instead of a baby face, muscles rather thin arms, Bill Kaulitz and the other guys aren’t apparently more “sissies.”
Nela: You can now see, as he and other teen stars suddenly become very tough guys and if they succeed in changing his image …
Hair slicked back, a touch with a little facial hair, tattoos showing men in a tight shirt. It’s actually Bill Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel, with men’s clothing. – Girl 1: “Well, he is still handsome.” Girl 2: “Yeah, uhm …”Girl 3: “Well, he has good stylists and surely tell him that he must go. Then the stylists have chosen well.” – Until now the singer of Tokio Hotel preferred appearing this way, clothing style imaginative and generally female. Therefore we can’t take Bill to the transformation of a real man seriously yet. That’s why he is only 5th place in our rankings of the most successful transformations of a teenager to a man.

INTERVIEW FOR BRAVO Nº13.2011 (RUSSIA)

Finally it happened! Tokio Hotel appeared in Moscow for MUZ TV Awards ! BRAVO meet the band and discovered lot of details about their life !
The BRAVO editor Liza have interviewed the guys at Olipmic just few minutes before MUZ TV Awards.
BRAVO: There were really tons of fans in front of the hotel ! They come just to see you, but suddenly the security came out and said, that you have asked the fans to not scream. (all them laught).
Georg y Tom: Whaaat?!
Bill: Wao! We have never said that ! Just the oposite, we love that much that our fans say hi to us with happy screams ! The next time, when you listen something like this, tell us, we will get him out !
BRAVO: Oh, thanks God! Have you come with your dongs again ?
Bill: No, sadly we haven’t come with them… they stayed at home. The last year we came with two of our big dogs (one german of short hair) on tour. But we won’t stay in Moscow for long time, so we have decided not to put them nervous. The fly is so stressing for them. If I could change the rules, I will let the animals to come in the plane. During the tour we traveled by bus and the dog slept in the bed with me.
BRAVO: Bill, the video where you appeared with beard have created some rumors on internet. Is the beard real ?
Tom: No! Is post-production ! It was painted after in computer. [Laught].
Bill: Maybe it surpirse them, but my beard grow too much. I haven’t thought about my beard of 3 days will make that riot. The camera wasn’t so good and I thought no one will notice it. In fact I’m always at home unshaven. I shave if I have to leave.
BRAVO: You look dressed today … You have a fur hood. But there are 25 degrees in Moscow !
Bill: Yes, I didn’t know that it’s so hot here !
Tom: Of course, I have to point out that skin is not real ! And we really are vegetarians.
BRAVO: Well ! Bill, you and your brother have already done the tattoo of twins that have planned ?
Bill: Tom can’t finally decide to do it ! Afraid of tattoos.
Tom: I have made painful piercings … but tattoos I get a little scary. Do I have to cover my beautiful body with tattoos? [Bill laughs]. I think it would be appropriate for Bill if he tattooed his entire body including the face. It’s a shame to do in my beautiful face.
BRAVO: But if you finally decide to do it, what would it be ?
Bill: A little message comprehensible only for us somewhere where nobody can see it.
BRAVO: Bill, Adam Lambert talks about you in every interview. That is if you call and invites you to a restaurant ?
Bill: I don’t know him, and he doesn’t know my phone number ! So, seems not to be intended to have dinner with me. [Gives a sly look].
BRAVO: I found something on the Internet! Something like twincest. They are twins who are in love with each other and so forth … [The kids look really puzzled].
Tom: Ehmmmm … There are twins who love each other ?
Bill: Twin-cest ?
BRAVO: Yes, some people even draw them in different poses …
Bill: Tom and me ?!
Tom: What the fuck ? It is legal, really ? [Laughs].
Bill: Maybe these people are crazy.
Tom: Sorry, but I don’t have anything in common with these people. [Everyone laughs].
BRAVO: Yes, there are many people with unhealthy fantasy. But what was the last case in which they met the wrong people ?
Bill: The last case was terrible, someone broke into our house in Germany. Because of this we have moved to the United States and are now living in Los Angeles. It is very difficult to live in Europe. Some people are just crazy. They have a kind of mania. Can do anything ! Perhaps there is between those who do twincest crazy. [Laughing] One day we realized that we must remain under the control of security all the time. That life became unbearable …
BRAVO: What are you doing in LA?
Bill: We’re working on our new album. On weekends, I swim in the pool all day and have fun at the amusement park. Tom and I are obsessed with it. Indeed, we celebrate our 20th birthday in a park, but it was in Germany.
Tom: I like the jet-ski and quads. I like anything with an engine ! From Los Angeles we also like the fact that we can go to the supermarket and buy yogurt, rent a car.
Georg: Getting a hair cut close in the room … [Everyone laughs].
Bill: It’s also great that all the supermarkets in the United States are open all day !
Tom: But even there we live a little reserved. We can not be 100% free. Most of the time stay at home.
It quotes the following:
“It’s a shame we can not bring our dogs with us.”
“Since our house was stolen, we can not live in Europe.”
In the photographs reads:
- Bill knows only one song in Russian – “Kalinka.”
- The fans were waiting for their favorite band for 48 hours !
- Bill was walking with a warm hood in Moscow.
- The guys signed autographs in front of the Ritz-Carlton.
- The musicians were happy to be back in Moscow.
- While fans were waiting, Tom was doing his hair.
- Tom gave advice to Bill: tattooed across his face.
- Georg laughed all the time Tom.

At first, Bill told the reporters at the press conference:
We took a small break but we’re surprised that so many Russian fans are waiting for us.
Do you know some Russian songs?
Bill: ‘Kalinka Malinka’? No, we don’t know any Russian songs but we promise that we’ll learn one.
What do you think of your fans that are copying your style?
Bill: Never even thought or dreamt about it. Now I can’t stop surprising. It’s a big honor for me. The other day, I saw girls that looked like me. It was weird.
You live in the U.S. now. What do you miss of your country?
Bill: We feel completely different in LA. We can go to a supermarket and buy our favourite yogurt, we couldn’t do that in Germany, there always were lots of fans around.

[INTERVIEW] IN ROCK VOL.329 (JAPAN)

“We are inspired by things like movies, our surroundings, everyday life or just waking up each morning.”
Tokio Hotel show their concern for Japan. Representing the band are the brothers, Bill & Tom Kaulitz who kindly agreed to give a telephone interview from Los Angeles at short notice.
Q: How have you guys been?
Bill: We’ve been writing songs in the studio, launching new projects, stuff like that.
Q: Are you writing new songs for the next album?
Tom: It may or may not be for the next album, we’re just writing songs at this stage. We still don’t have a defined plan for releasing the new album and we don’t know when we will release it. We’re just being creative, writing music.
Q: What kind of songs are you writing? Are you singing it in English? Or are they being written in German?
Bill: Right now, the songs are more or less written in English. I don’t really know why myself. Just that it comes naturally to me. Besides, we’re living in LA now so somehow things tend to get done in English. However we’re not sure how we are eventually going to compile the album because we definitely will do songs in German. Since nothing has been decided and we’re still at the experimental stage, we’re just trying out different things while we put a demo of the songs together.
Q: Does your recording company and management not pressure you to complete the album by a certain date, or are they fairly relaxed about it?
Tom: (laughs) They are not relaxed about it. But we’re just staying cool and calm.
Bill: Yup, technically we don’t have a deadline. I mean, for me, deadlines are like nightmares. In the creative line, you’re trying very hard to produce good work but having to deal with a deadline just messes things up and make its even more complicated. What’s more important is the freedom to enjoy doing what you love to do. Even if it seems like making an album is about completing the songs and making detailed preparations, its actually something which need sot come from inside of us. That is why right now we want to take it easy so that we can enjoy new challenges*.
*probably referring to the challenge of creating a new album
Q: So, what kind of challenges are you taking on, what sound are you trying to create?
Tom: That’s a surprise we’re keeping for the release of the next album. In the first place, we are creating something different everyday. We listen to various kinds of music, and are inspired by different things so it really depends on the mood at each point in time. We’re doing this everyday and everyday is a new day.
Bill: That’s right. That’s why we don’t have a definitive sound for the next album.
Q: What kind of music inspires you?
Tom: Its not just music actually. For now I really like the older works by Anthony Hamilton.
Bill: We are also inspired by movies and what’s happening around us. Everyday life in a place like LA is very refreshing and therefore inspiring. Just being able to wake up each morning is also an inspiration. But I would say movies play a bigger part. We really like movies. We do go to the theatres or we watch one from our 1000+ dvd collection in our home theater.
Q: Any good films so far?
Bill: The Town was good. I also think The Fighter was really good.
Q: About your life in LA, do you think you are somewhat able to live a more normal life? After all you’re kind of “unknown” compared to Germany.
Bill: Well, the both of us came to LA because we wanted some privacy in our lives. Up to this point we’ve not been able to enjoy much privacy, and it’s a bit difficult to achieve that in Europe due to certain circumstances. Therefore, we were looking for a place where we can be free to be creative and at the same time enjoy some privacy. Up till now, we’ve been on tour and haven’t had the time for any kind of life outside of Tokio Hotel. In that sense, LA is quite suitable because things are quite different. The *paparazzi don’t know where we live so we’ve been able to enjoy some privacy and take things a bit easier.
Tom: It doesn’t mean that we get to play and party every day. Most of the time, we’re cooped up in the studio.
Bill: Yes, **we do need to be cautious at all times.
*Japanese word is unclear, so I’m guessing he’s referring to paparazzi
**Bill is probably saying this to mean that if they were out and about and careless, their location would be found out. It took me a while to understand
Q: So is there some kind of everyday routine in your life?
Bill: We’re really bad when it comes to routines. That’s why we do different things everyday. Other than checking our emails, we’re currently busy with several of this year’s projects. Its still in the planning phase and we havent got the details down yet. There are various things we’d like to do this year. The best part of our job is having the freedom to do what we want. We really hate routines because when we were young we had to go to school everyday like a routine, and we just hated it but we had no choice.
Q: Finally, do you have any words for the people in Japan?
Bill: Of course. We’ve been checking the news everyday and staying up-to-date on the latest developments in Japan. I think it’s not just us but the whole world knows what’s going on and that has deeply moved everybody. I think everyone wants to help in one way or another. Especially in this day and age, I think it’s important for the world to unite and help each other out. It’s really wonderful to actually see the world giving a helping hand to Japan.
Tom: I was really shocked when I first heard about what happened in Japan. After all it is a country that is special to us. And we were so saddened by the news. So we’ve been looking out for information about whether the people are alright. On our official website we are selling a button set and the proceeds from the sales will be donated to Japan. I also think our fans would like to play a part in helping out.
Q: Is there a song you would like to dedicate to those who are still feeling down?
Bill: Because everybody is different, it’s quite hard to find one thing to say to everybody but if I were to choose from our songs, I would choose “By Your Side” and “Zoom Into Me”. Both songs give the assurance that you’re not alone and it’s a message I would like to emphasize. After all, it makes you feel happy if you know that people around the world feel for you.
To Be Continued…

ELLE GIRL JAPAN – INTERVIEW IN ENGLISH

You all started the band when you were really young, but from that moment, what kind of music were willing to do or was there a special image ?
Bill:
Hmmm, no, there was none. Only then began to write music for us, we made our own music. So far, we haven’t copied anyone’s songs.
This is amazing !
Bill: (laughs) But each of our musical interests are different. And so far, it hasn’t had a band like ours, we could only do original music soon. Because all members didn’t have any favorite artist in common.
Now ?
Bill:
Now, everyone likes rock stars Aerosmith. But of course, the music that each private listening is different. Always ask us, about our vision, we want to do from now on, as do music, but is really simple. Only hope “something” that comes to us all.
So, it’s easy to find music that you guys want to do ?
Bill:
Of course ! Since the beginning of the band was really early, I always think of the lyrics, and Tom plays the guitar …
Tom: Writing music is easy. It is always easy to find what we do, then just do it.
How you ever find it ?
Tom
: Just started to act in rehearsing rooms. Bill begins writing the emotional lyrics, and we play our instruments. The lyrics and music are produced all at once.
Georg: We don’t prepare anything in advance.
Bill: Speaking some expressions, when writing, there are people who write a story or writes poetry to express themselves. But whenever, we express ourselves in making music.

When you write the lyrics, where inspiration comes from ?
Bill:
From everywhere. Pick up ideas from many sites. Tom and I will arrange it together while we’re recording in our home studio. We are inspired by films, through cities, myself and different people, and also in life. We are going to study and collect these things, and from there some new ideas are born and others are changed. It is well put together.
Bill, you create the lyrics as if you wrote a diary ?
Bill:
Yes. They are completely different. We got the inspiration from various aspects, and the content is mainly about our feelings and experiences.
The songs are not only about reality and fantasy, but also about the connection between them.
Tom
: I think both worlds awaken my true feeling. The fictional world affects us, especially reflected in our new album “Humanoid. “
What emotion can easily be impressed by the music of Tokio Hotel ?
Bill: We always create the letters with our emotions of the moment. We probably are aggressive or sad, grief, broken-hearted, happy, or sometimes just want to have a party that night. We have different feelings every day. Whenever we take some points and put them in our lyrics, just like a diary. There must be some people who write diaries every night ! And our music is the product of a mixture of daily and fantasy.
In the official Tokio Hotel, we know a lot about your own views in the world in the web design concepts. When you had this idea ?
Bill
: HAHAHA (laughing happily). It’s like doing a jigsaw puzzle. We didn’t have even an idea at first. Only continue to build our songs, and make electronic music and made them more attractive. When we did this, we gradually had some ideas as visual effects that may come to us, or how to transport the human emotions. We achieve this purpose by the photos or funds, and are just as the costumes of the tour. All the songs make them more lively.
How profound ! Cool ! Bill, when you knew you wanted to be a star ?
Bill:
Very early. My mother always said that Tom and I were very noisy children.
Georg: And you are still being noisy children. (they laugh together)
Bill: (still say with a little anger) are naturally artists. My mother often brought us to parties and we took the microphones with us, so we talked and danced. We were aggressive at any time.
Tom: (in German) But sometimes there is bad language.
Everyone laughed when Tom said “bad language”, Georg the most.
Although I’m quite interested in the history of the puzzle. So what kind of film influences the world view of Bill ?
Bill:
It’s hard to say. I like various kinds of film. The first movie I saw was the David Bowie Labyrinth (1986). This is my favorite movie.
When did you see this movie ?
Bill:
Um … about 6 years ago. He saw it again and again because I really liked. I also like “Dangerous Liaisons” (1988), although it’s a very old movie. I watch different kinds of movies, like science fiction movies. When I was young, I liked a lot ET (1982), and vampire movies. I like the Fifth Element (1997). And I also like to watch romantic movies like The Notebook (2004). It’s really touching. Yes, I see many kinds of films, rather as a particular type.
Tom: It’s really crazy. We have thousands of DVDs, too many good films.
And the other three ? You have a favorite band or movie, or something that influences you ? Could you talk about this ?
Gustav:
My favorite album is “Darkside of the Sun. ” And my favorite is DVD Tokio Hotel. (Everyone laughs)
Georg: Speaking of actors I like Leonardo Dicaprio. (Gustav and Tom are laughing very hard)
Georg (says seriously): His films are really good.
Bill (according to him): Um, this is a fact. His films are quite good. Films made when he was young are good too.
Georg: He could be the actor of the century.
Bill: True !
And music ? What is your favorite album ?
Georg:
I listen to many kinds of music. And I hear more than one album every day. The last album I bought was that of Mike Posners. (Mike Posners was also a candidate in 2010 at the MTV Europe Music Awards)
Bill: He is an American newcomer. And there are influences from pop and R & B into their music.
Tom: R & B, Dance and Hip-Hop, these three mixtures sit together.
And what about you Tom ?
Tom:
My favorite movie is Training Day (2001) starring Denzel Washington. He is cool and …
Bill (interrupting): Tom likes all the movies played by Denzel Washington. And the Fire of Vengeance (2004).
Tom: Ah ! The Fire of Vengeance is really good. Dakota Fanning is also a good actress. (He also appeared in The Fire of  Vengeance, his full name is Hannah Dakota Fanning, best known film I Am Sam (2001).)
The interview suddenly began to heat.
Turning to music, from your first album, you guys have been working with producers such as Dave Roth, Patrick Benzner and David Jost. What kind of effect has been brought to work with them ?
Bill:
We have been working together for a long time.
Tom: Yes, we have been working together for 7 or 8 years since we started our band.
Bill: We know each other well, and all albums are recorded with producers. Our last album “Humanoid” was slightly different in that we work with different people, but us had put many new ideas on the album, we still work with them.
Tom: I think the most important is that we know each other well, each in the studio knows the direction of production and sound.
Bill: It is important for us to have the same taste. If producers have different musical tastes withthe us, it would be difficult for us to produce a single song. But we’ve been working on for a long time, know what to do, then it is quite easy.
Which song from the album “Humanoid”, contains the newest element? I think ‘Dogs Unleashed “is a unique song that mixes electronic rock.
Bill:
Yes, this is the song that we work with our new sound better. The effect of electronics, drum machine, keyboard and synthesizer, we had the challenge to a different sound.
Yes
Bill: But when we put this matter in our music, we had some bare in mind. The songs were ours, but us to write our songs in our hearts, we may be affected by the outside world in the recording. Some people have different ideas, but his ideas could not be better. If we used the wrong way, the sound seems cheap. So, to not make that sound that becomes cheap, we had to mix it with rock inpresionante. In the last album, the electronic rock is the part I like best. I think we’re on stage and we want to have the change to new matter.
Tom: It is a tool for us to do larger scale music. Introducing electronic rock, we pointed us to make an album sound more sense to scale.
Bill: Actually, musical instruments were played more music we play, here.
Bill and Tom looked serious talking about his music. There is still a chat with the 4 boys.

INTERVIEW FOR ELLE JAPAN

Tokio Hotel was founded by twin brothers Bill (vocals) and Tom (guitar), who came from a little old town called Loitsche in East Germany (Date of birth: 01/09/1989). Then Georg Listing (bass, 31/03/1987) and Gustav Schäfer (drums, 08/09/1988) joined. Finally, the four formed the band.
Bill and Tom started writing music at the age of 7 years. They made their performances in Magdeburg when they were 10 years. Then matured very early.
Later, at the age of 13 years, they had similar tastes and interests with Georg and Gustav who came to see their live show and the band began to settle.
Georg began playing bass at the age of 13 years and Gustav started playing drums with 15. For them, the band was the real race.
As to the reason why their band called TH Tokio, Bill said: “We consider Tokyo as the final destination, because Tokyo is too far to reach it. The scene in Tokyo we are always turning. We are inspired by this scene and add Tokyo to the name of the band.
The interview began in a harmonious atmosphere like last time.
What hairstyle so fabulous !
Bill:
Thanks!
How long does you need to make this hairstyle ?
Bill:
This is the easiest, because the hairdresser only have to do your hair like this. It was not long in doing so. But in the past really took time and was upset because of my long hair. And always use hairspray. So today’s hairstyle is easy.
It is the second time you come to Tokyo. What do you think of Tokyo ?
Bill:
We really like the streets of Japan. We were a little nervous during the first day when we arrived. We couldn’t imagine before in all that we would reach Tokyo. But we knew what it was this time. We found different kinds of people and it was exciting. We really appreciate everything was full of energy. And all the people were very friendly. Besides this, our fans were energetic. They sent us many gifts and had done many things for us. We moved a lot. This was the most exciting moment when we took pictures with fans. At this time, each released its emotion.
Where you want to go in Tokyo ?
Gustav:
We have not seen much. But we went to Shibuya, it was awesome ! The crossing in Shibuya was amazing. We find many people who have never encountered before. In Germany, there is no place like this. We really want to see more streets like this.
What kind of impression you have about Japanese girls ?
Bill:
They are very lovely. While sometimes a little shy, I think they are sweet and cute. It’s normal to be shy and nervous when your favorite band is standing in front of you, after all they are your favorites. So it is natural. I really like.
What about the German girls and American girls ?
Bill:
They are not shy at all. What should I say ? In Germany, people are more crazy. (He raises his voice). Because different countries have different culture, I can’t judge. This differs from one man to another man. After we arrived in Japan, I realized that the Japanese are a little shy. But fans of Tokio Hotel are basically one big family. They share everything on Twitter. So I think Japanese fans will participate in the great family.
Bill, you’re a shy boy, right ?
Tom, Georg, Gustav:
Bill is shy ! (laughs)
Bill: No, I’m not like this. (blush) In my opinion, it must be some moments in life when people feel shy. I don’t think I can be shy because I’m used to communicate with people after years of practice. But all this depends very. According to different situation, people may feel shy too. I think when I’m free and I find pretty girls, I will be confident and say “Hi, I’m a rock star !”
Tom: I have some good advice. If Bill is meeting someone is shy, he should offer a kiss. (Everyone laughs) So Bill is shy ! (laughs)
Bill: Well, I’m a little shy.
Tom: So should you.
Bill: I can’t do that. I know it is better to kiss with real feelings.
Tom: See ? Bill is a shy boy. (laughs)
The interview was held in a harmonious atmosphere.

INTERVIEW: GEKIROCK.com [Japan] - 08.02.2011

Interview with Bill & Tom
Congratulations on your first day here. You seem to be very busy with interviews today, are you enjoying yourself in Japan?
Bill:
Of course! I'm having lots of fun! But it's true that we have a whole day of interviews, I'd thought it'll be nice if we could go out more, but just the fact that we are here in japan makes us really happy! Anyway I think we are going out tomorrow.

Is the image of japan you had in your mind previously destroyed after seeing Japan 1st hand?
Bill:
Hahaha! (laugh) It's okay! We heard that in Japan, the streets are really big and colorful, it's a crazy country, but we didn't know how it really fits the image. But seeing japan now, there's a lot of buildings, it's a really beautiful country! I would love to see more of Japan tomorrow!

I see. Apparently the band's name and the lyrics consist of some Japanese.
Bill:
When we were down in the studio in Germany we'd thought "Why not set a goal, a goal that is so far and so impossible to achieve", so we thought of including Tokyo = Tokio into the band's name. And today we're here in Japan, I would love to see how is the culture and music is like with my own eyes.
Tom: Considering the history of the band, Tokyo is an important place to us. That's why we are truly gratefu that we are indeed here.

I see. Although Germany and Japan are really far away the fans are able to get to know you through Myspace and Facebook.
Tom:
That's true even though we are the type who only uses e-mails (laugh), when we saw the official Myspace and Facebook we are aware of the large community of fans there. Of course the number of Japanese followers are increasing as well. It'll be nice if we're able to gain more Japanese fans during this period of time.

Congratulations to the release of "Darkside Of The Sun " a Japan limited album. The 16 songs from previous albums like "Humanoid", "Scream" and "Humanoid City Live", well that's a lot of songs. Were the songs selected by the members?
Tom:
 Yes! We chose them!
Bill: This is a special album limited to Japan. We have released our albums in many different countries the release of the album came the latest for japan, so we thought that we would release our best work here. All the single releases up to date are included, so you would be able to listen to our history so far. So I suppose this is another best of album.

The 2 albums which make up this best of album, "Scream" and "Humanoid" what are the themes of these albums?
Bill:
Firstly, "Scream" is our debut album, something we recorded properly in the studios. Just like the title it represents the emotions we have, how desperate we want to scream "We are right here!!!" out loud, it's a very energetic album. "Humanoid" on the other hand is something very different, we are more experienced in the studio...
Tom: We are credited as co-producers too!
Bill: Exactly! (laughs) We were more used to studio works, "Humanoid" is a creative work. As we get the opportunity to meet different people around the world we get more different inspirations, so it turned out to be more futuristic just like a sci-fi movie.

I see. Tokio Hotel's melody is very catchy and the sound is very dynamic, it seems that it's evolving and getting more and more dramatic.
Bill:
The 4 members have very different taste in music, we don't have 1 specific group that we like, so we are inspired by many bands which I guess created the Tokio Hotel sound. Ever since we were young, the band had done countless numbers of live performances thats why we are able to be resonant with one another.

Artistes who were mentioned had inspired you are Aerosmith and GUNS N' ROSES.
Bill:
Aerosmith is a rock legend that I really like. There aren't many bands that are that big these day are there?
Tom: Yeah. Female solo artistes, hip hop groups, rappers etc who simultaneously releases albums, however this doesn't seem to be happening to Rock bands. Having a single hit and then disappearing from the industry, there are many bands like that. That's why we respect bands like Aerosmith and GUNS N' ROSES.

I see. Putting aside Tokio Hotel's sound, visual image and creativity, do you have rock bands which you can relate to?
Bill:
I think the Black Eyed Peas is great, the album's concept, live performances and video clips are really good. The producer and song writer, will.i.am is very cool! And 30 Seconds to Mars too! Their newest video "Hurricane" was great! They are a very creative band who pay attention to small details too!
Tom: But the number 1 band is still Tokio Hotel! ( laughs)

Yes, ( laughs) 30 Seconds to Mars which was just mentioned seems to have resonance with Tokio Hotel in terms of background and stance.
Bill:
Yes! 30 Seconds to Mars is brilliant when it comes to quality! Jared as a singer is great! Both groups are perfectionists. We met them a couple of times during award ceremonies. (laugh)
Tom: Jared is a really nice guy.

Tokio Hotel who have received many music awards and is enjoying their success now, please do tell us your current goals.
Bill:
Our aim would be WORLD TOUR! The actual feeling of dominating the world's market, so I was thinking about a world tour.
Tom: We have received approximately 90 awards, that's all because of our fans doing their best to vote for us, however we have not yet gotten a Grammy award. (laugh)
Bill: Yeah. It seems that fans have been posting comments in the Internet during the period of the Grammy awards.
Tom: But we have not released our album yet during that time.
Bill: Yes, it's a regret that we missed the Grammy awards! We'll be aiming for the Grammy award next time! (laugh)
